It’s been an eventful few months for the team as a busy and successful 2012 drew to a close and 2013 arrived with a bang and a flurry of events! Here is an update on what’s been keeping us busy at Accomplished Events.
In November we were invited to the Eventia Awards at the London Hilton Park Lane for the second year running and what a fantastic night it was. With entertainment from X factor contestants Ella Henderson and District 3 and a superb host in Stephen Mangan the awards were a real celebration of the events industry and the superb talent within it. There were a number of worthy winners and runners up and we were as always cheering on our industry friends as their names were called out in the various category shortlists. The only thing missing this year was a table booklet of all the guests in attendance so we set about finding our friends, clients, suppliers and partners and had a great time catching up with so many people and hearing their summary of the events industry in 2012.
After the Eventia Awards we were straight into a busy December with a number of Christmas events lined up including Christmas team building events and Christmas parties. Our interactive Company Quiz Night was a popular feature as clients dressed up in their Christmas finery and played our various TV based rounds in teams over or after their turkey dinner. By far the most popular round was our caricature drawing round which left one client in such hysterical giggles that he fell off his chair at the dinner table! Christmas hats and crackers were out in early December so we were feeling very festive all month!
We were straight into the New Year with an Apprentices event for 90 guests in Salford on 7th January. Guests had three business tasks to complete including a regeneration task that was location specific which we designed especially for them. Their brief was to go out into the local area, do some research and come up with a brand new entertainment complex in order to encourage local and overseas tourists to the Media City area. Our overall winners were awarded a very generous prize from the boss, a night in a luxury hotel with no expenses spared and an open bar tab!
The week after we hosted a two day HAKA and Circus Skills event which saw our delegates learning a new skill and performing it the following night at Dickens World. They learnt the diablo, plate spinning, juggling, stilt walking tightwire and many other skills which they included in their final performances which were judged by our professional Circus Skills facilitators. Our winning team had an interesting concept which included adding many additional elements to their performance including acrobatics and balancing bodies! Our judges were incredibly impressed with the imagination, creativity and experimentation that went into the piece.
We also ran two Ice Breaker events this month. Our Shared & Unique activity is extremely effective for getting groups of corporate guests together who have never met before. In this case, delegates came from two totally different parts of the business and they were due to work at a forthcoming exhibition together. The client really wanted them to break the ice prior to the exhibition so that they could have some common ground and work more effectively together on the event. We found out some amazingly interesting unique facts about our groups including a lady who had dined with the Princess Royal, a man who had held £1,000,000 of uncut diamonds in his hands, a lady who had passed her driving test and received points on the same day and a man who had played snooker with Ronnie O'Sullivan and many many more. Our shared facts were equally as fascinating as we had one group who had all attended a speed awareness course, another who had all participated in amateur dramatics, a group who all had a penchant for fancy dress and another team who had all done work for charitable causes!
Other exciting news to announce is the addition of Alice to our team who joins us as Event Coordinator. She will be responsible for enquiry handling, venue and event proposals, client liaison, on the day event logistics and various other projects. We also have another new starter who'll be joining us in February so watch this space for more news from our happy and busy team!
